Matthew 12:36
You can be sure of this: when the day of judgment comes, everyone will be held accountable for every careless word he has spoken.
Matthew 12:36-37
It’s your heart, not the dictionary, that gives meaning to your words. A good person produces good deeds and words season after season. An evil person is a blight on the orchard. Let me tell you something: Every one of these careless words is going to come back to haunt you. There will be a time of Reckoning. Words are powerful; take them seriously. Words can be your salvation. Words can also be your damnation.”
Vows are very strong and must be kept in the spirit.
Good Vows: Marriage vows, baptismal vows, covenant vows stand the test of time.
Bad Inner Vows:
- Trap the devil lures us to create to do his dirty work with inner vows.
- Inner statements that we make that will set up a magnetic field attracting or repelling something.
- Watch out for “never” or “always.”
- We make them knowingly or unknowlingly.
- You become a slave to the vow and cannot change your mindset or behavior.
- You spoke them either out loud or mentally. Words have power.
Samples:
- I always go the wrong way. (After you made a wrong turn.)
- I am such a klutz and always mess things up. (You dropped dish of food)
- I can never be right. (You chose the wrong answer.)
- I never want to get married. (After watching your parents argue)
- I never get there on time. (After being late for an appointment.)
- I don’t ever want children. (After you had to babysit your brothers.)
- I will never label people. (You then can’t remember people’s names.)
Ask the Holy Spirit to show you an incident(s) that caused you to make an inner vow.WHAT INNER VOWS HAVE YOU MADE? What are the connections to other vows?
How did it effect you?
Prayer to break inner vows:
Lord, I repent of making the inner vow that says _________________________
I forgive myself for making that vow. I release me from that vow. Because of your mercy and forgiveness, I break the power of that vow. I am released into your freedom.
