Holy Week, 2021 - Mentoring Meeting
Palm Sunday: Jesus came to Jerusalem to celebrate Passover
- Jesus as hailed as King entering Jerusalem on a donkey
- The People thought he was going to save them from the Roman rule.
- Jesus’ mission was greater—to save them from sin and death for all time.
- Celebration (Luke 19:28-44) Declare Jesus as King.
Monday: Cleansing the temple (Luke 19:45-48)
- We need cleansing from things of the world. We are a House of Prayer.
Tuesday: Anointed at Bethany (Matt 26:6-13)
- We are prepared for death of worldly things: ideas, habits, sin
Wednesday: Judas agree to betray Jesus (Luke 22:1-6)
- Judas played along with the world. He knew Jesus but still cooperated with the world
Thursday:
- Jesus is the “real Passover Lamb” for deliverance from sin
- The Last Supper or Passover Meal (Luke 22:14-23)
- Communion to remember the power of the Passover Lamb
Friday:
- Trial (Luke 22:63-71, 23:1-25) Examine the Lamb
- Crucifixion (23:26-49) The Passover Lamb is slain, 12 noon, blood shed, dies at 3:00PM (It is finished)
Saturday: In the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea.
- Rest on the Sabbath (Luke23:50-56)
Sunday: Resurrection Day. Women planning to embalm the body (Luke 24-12)
- Mary recognizes Him when he calls her name.
- Tells disciples about resurrection
- Jesus appears with a resurrected body. Everywhere, anytime.
- Eat food like a normal person
Jesus shows self to disciples on Road to Emmaus (Luke 24:14-35)
