Jars of Oil

2 Kings 4:1-7

jarsUnfortunately, some people believe they don’t have to do anything but wait for the Lord to drop down prosperity on them.  After all, he promises blessings and prosperity.

In Elisha’s day, creditors were taking everything from the widow, even her sons, to satisfy her husband’s debt.  The only thing she had left in her house was a jar of oil.  Elisha told her to gather as many empty vessels and she could.  She had to gather many vessels—not just a few—from her neighbors.  She got them for free.  She was instructed to privately pour oil from her meager supply into the vessels she had collected.  As it was, she poured out a never ending stream of oil until all the vessels were filled.  She then sold the oil to pay back the debt and live on what was left. Had she not gathered the vessels, she would not have received the miracle of multiplication.

The Lord will pour out a blessing we cannot contain (Mal 3:10), but we have to participate with him and prepare to receive the multiplication of blessing according to his instructions.  If you were given a huge sum of money today, would you have the right bank accounts and investment knowledge to handle it?  If the Lord poured out on you the ability to discover the cure for cancer, would you have the vessels of knowledge, experience, and perseverance to pursue that destiny?

The blessings you receive are directly connected to your in preparation to receive them.  Your anointing (oil) will multiply until the vessels are full.

Gather your vessels today and prepare ye the way of the Lord.
