Being drawn to Jesus is a gift from the Father. Jesus tells us that no one can come to Him unless the Father draws him. (John 6:65) God woos, and draws rather than pushes and jerks us into place. We know that the Father’s heart is that all men should be saved from the death penalty of sin. Whether we believe it or not, sin carries a death penalty--death from the quality of life that God has provided for us, now and in eternity.
So what keeps him from drawing everybody?
The Israelites in the desert wanted his presence but they were not willing to live according to his laws and precepts. They were not willing to worship only Him. They wanted all the comforts of their desires but do things their own way. They said with their mouth He is Lord, but their hearts were far from Him. (Ps 78:36-37)
We have a say in whether the Father draws us. If your desire is to have nothing to do with God, God will not violate your will and force His presence upon you. If you are angry at God, angry at those who believe in Him, or reject anything that mentions God, God cannot draw you. God can reveal himself in unusual ways, get others to share their story, change your circumstances, or even use the devil’s works to turn your head. But you have the final say in your heart. If you think God is paying attention to others and not you, or is not drawing you to himself, check your heart.
Do you REALLY want him? There are going to be some requirements. His presence is free but not cheap. The price may be your pride.
